Anions are often ignored by both theory and experiment because they are considered “fussy” compared to neutral and cationic species. At the same time, their electronic structure uniquely probes theoretical models and experimental regimes inaccessible to their well-behaved counterparts. Our project PANIONS will take advantage of this niche and explore the properties and applications of anionic systems.

Lukáš F. Pašteka is an associate professor at Comenius University in Bratislava. His research expertise lies in precision relativistic electronic structure calculations with applications in atomic and molecular spectroscopy, molecular searches for new physics, laser cooling, prediction of properties of heavy and superheavy elements and investigations of relativistic and QED effects in chemistry. Besides this main research line, other research interests include fluxional organic molecules and molecular photoswitches.
