Robin Golser, an emeritus professor of isotope physics at the University of Vienna, was the long-time head of the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA). He has dedicated his career to pushing the physical and technical limits of Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) in order to detect the rarest isotopes in nature. His primary research interests lie in advancing AMS methodology, particularly developing novel isobar suppression techniques, most notably ILIAMS (Ion Laser InterAction Mass Spectrometry). This technology has opened new frontiers in measuring difficult isotopes, such as ⁹⁰Sr, ¹³⁵Cs, and ¹⁸²Hf.

Robin is also dedicated to applying these ultra-sensitive measurements to solve interdisciplinary problems ranging from archaeological dating and environmental tracing of anthropogenic fingerprints to fundamental questions in astrophysics.
